Eating Crow

This boat is taking on water, taking on water and it’s going down fast
(Head for the life-raft)
Taking on water, we tried to bail out water’s coming in from all sides
This ship‘s not meant to last
Though I know i’m wrong I should admit it, but I won’t
And I’m contemplating eating crow right now
This trip was doomed from the start
The smallest fucking swell, would rip this hull apart
Never meant to sail
But I’m stubborn and I underestimated this gale
Though I know I’m wrong, we were fucked so long ago
And I’m contemplating eating crow right now
And going down, down, down, to the bottom of the lake
Down, down, down, can’t wait to asphyxiate
Cut off the exchange of air to my blood flow
And going down, down, down, to the bottom of the lake
Down, down, down, my pride circling the drain
Won’t admit what you’ve already known so long ago
I’m eating crow

Lost out to the tune of
Sucking down burning plastic fumes
In time we’ll stop feeling like, get worse, and then get better
I live my life under electrical grids, power lines buzzing overhead
Effects are said to be minimal
I’m living on borrowed time, I’m living on borrowed time
I’ve had a bad streak of the worst luck and while the pesticides are building up
Apathy and the acid rain will float my carrion down the storm drains
The lake’s on fire so grab your canteen, ground water’s lousy with benzine
Iodine suspended in the air, mine-fires below plume blue and red
Conditions are said to be optimal
I’m living on borrowed time, I’m living on borrowed time
Lost out to the tune of…

Cigarettes bring out the worst in you
Stubborn smug comment I know it’s true
It’s like every time we get along you known it’s going to end
Every time we get along you known it’s going to end badly
Bitter cold brings out the worst in me
All these warm layers just hide disease
It’s like every time I know I’m wrong that’s when I can’t shut up
Every time I know I’m wrong that’s when I can’t shut up
Whatever gets you though the night’s not worth a fight to me
Bitterness brings out the best in us
Bitter-sweet something don’t slam the screen door shut
It’s like every time we get along you known it’s going to end
Every time we get along I swear it’s gonna end
Whatever gets you though the night’s not worth a fight to me
I know it’s hard and it’s no one’s fault and
It can be a bitter pill to swallow

Who do you think you are and where do you think you’re going?
No I’m not going to tell you, I’ve already been there myself.
What the fuck is your problem, and when are you going to grow up?
Why have you been so stagnant?
How did everyone leave you so far, so far behind?
When your home is a DMZ, and you live with the vultures,
They might pick you clean at the first sign of disease
It’s a scavengers paradise, it’s teaming with parasites
Remember shallow breaths as you drift sound asleep
And the scent of rotting flesh
Will be carried upstairs along tradewinds right into the jackal’s den
torn up carpets line the hallway, and lightbulbs flicker out
and wallpaper seems to fall off of the walls all by itself
We are over conditioned, we are the thoughtless ones
The unappreciated ones that never got what we deserved, just let down
The jackal’s desperate and bloodshot, he calls out within earshot
Then continues on with this mess as if no one’s caught onto him yet
It’s easy to see in this selfish routine,
that his only enemy is the same one that lives inside of me
It gets hard to spark a fire and walk away,
when you know it’s going to go out by itself anyway
Frustration unavoidably sets in,
and any hope for reconciliation gets blow out by the wind
We are over conditioned, we are the thoughtless ones
The unappreciated ones that never got what we deserved
It’s not psychosomatic, it’s just the way we think,
Nothing ever fixes itself, nothing’s ever going to feel okay
Or alright, ever again
